The Economists
Union of Georgia "Economy for Society" is a non-profitable,
non-governmental organization, which was created in 2001.
The main reasons for the creation of the organization were:
economic: during the transition period the economy of the
country suffered deep crisis. Nowadays, one of the most important
goals for the country is the rehabilitation of its economy, in which
the civil society should play an important role.
social: owing to economic crisis the social situation deteriorated.
There are low standards of life, unemployment and lots of other
social problems and they have negative influence on human development.
Solving these problems is urgent for the contemporary society.
civil: during the transition lots of reforms have been carried
out and new laws adopted. During the process of transition to market
economy the monitoring of economic processes and consultations carry
great importance for the society.
The organization aims at assisting in solving these problems and
is ready to collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The main goals of organization are:
- Researching and analyzing the economic and social situation in
the country;
- Caring out the measures for recovering the economy and development
of small business;
- Taking care of improving the social conditions of citizens;
- Considering the economic laws and carrying out the measures for
their improvement;
- Rising the economic awareness of society;
- Providing the economic consultations for society.
